Chabad Taiwan
Opened in the summer of 2011,
and within a very short while, Chabad Taiwan had become the center of Jewish life in Taiwan, thus naming itself -Taipei Jewish Center.
A country of 24 million, Taiwan, enjoys a population of about 1000 Jewish residents.
Diplomats, expats, teachers and students are a part of the small community, each with their own background and affiliation. In addition, hundreds of Jewish travelers, mainly businessmen visit Taiwan during the year.
The country’s most prominent industry – IT (High Tech) is the main attraction to most of them, yet there are jewelry and diamonds dealers, importers, bankers, and other industries who find large interest in this small but stable island.
Right at the very beginning (2 days after landing) TJC had begun to supply Kosher food and Synagogue services to the visitors and locals, being the only Kosher kitchen in greater Taiwan.
Shabbat meals and services had, b”h, quickly become extremely popular with the local community, catering for students, businessmen, visitors and families.
2 months later, with the help of one of the community members who volunteered the venue, a Sunday School was founded and 19 children had enrolled.
The children study, Hebrew, Jewish Studies, and tradition all through a fun and enriching experience.
Our mission is to serve as an active Jewish center, where both foreigners and locals could have the warm feeling of 'Home away from home' and to guarantee no Jew will be left behind.
It is only through your support that we could continue our work. Please take a moment to contribute according to your heart's wishes.
